FAQ

General

What kind of products do you sell?

We sell high-quality 3D-printed tabletop scenery and accessories, designed for role-playing games, wargames, and board games. Our products are ideal for hobbyists who want to bring their adventures to life on the table.

Are StoryForge products handmade or mass-produced?

All products are printed on demand using professional 3D printers. While the printing process itself is automated, each item is individually hand-checked, cleaned, and prepared before shipping.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we currently ship to the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany. Additional EU countries will follow in the near future. Shipping costs and delivery times are calculated at checkout based on your location.

Materials & Quality

What materials are your products made from?

Our products are made from high-quality PLA or PLA-based materials. PLA is lightweight, non-toxic, durable, and very well suited for tabletop scenery.

Why are the products unpainted?

We deliberately sell our products unpainted so you can paint and customize them to match your own style, color scheme, and game world.

Can visible layer lines occur?

Yes. As with all 3D-printed objects, subtle layer lines may be visible. We optimize our print settings for detail and durability, but 3D printing is not injection molding.

Are small imperfections normal?

Minor surface imperfections can occur and are considered normal for 3D-printed items. These do not affect functionality and are usually easy to remove. After priming and painting, they are typically barely noticeable.

Scale & Compatibility

What scale are your terrain pieces?

Unless stated otherwise, our terrain is designed for 28 mm scale. This means an adult humanoid figure, measured from feet to eye level (approx. 1.70 m in real life), stands about 28 mm tall (base not included).

In practice, this terrain works very well for games in the 28–32 mm range, such as Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder, and most tabletop wargames.

Terrain designed specifically for true 32 mm scale tends to look bulkier and more massive, often resulting in an overcrowded gaming table that reduces playability.

Are the buildings playable from the inside?

Often yes, but this varies by product. Some buildings are solid for durability, while others feature removable roofs or modular interiors. Please consult the product description for specific details.

Painting & Hobby Use

Do I need to prepare the models before painting?

Yes. Check the model for any loose parts and remove them if necessary. For a smoother surface, the model can be lightly sanded.

Wash the model with mild soap to remove dust, grease, and oils; this improves primer adhesion.

Without primer, acrylic paint will not adhere properly. Always use a primer suitable for PLA, which is widely available at hobby stores and often also at discount retailers.

Can I use spray primer and acrylic paints?

Yes. Most standard hobby primers and acrylic paints work well on our products. We recommend applying a varnish after painting to ensure the paint remains durable during frequent tabletop use.

Orders & Customization

Do you accept custom requests?

In some cases, yes. If you are looking for a different scale, size, or a custom order, please contact us before placing your order.

Can I cancel or modify my order?

Because most items are printed on demand, cancellations or changes are only possible if production has not yet started. Please contact us as soon as possible.

Returns & Support

Do you accept returns?

Because our products are made especially for you, returns due to a change of mind are unfortunately not possible.

Did you receive a damaged or incorrect item? In that case, we will of course help you with an appropriate solution, such as a replacement or return, in accordance with our return policy.

Not satisfied for another reason? Please feel free to contact us — we’re happy to think along with you.

What if my order arrives damaged?

If your item arrives damaged, please contact us within 48 hours and include clear photos. We will work with you to find a suitable solution.

Practical & Legal

Are these official or licensed products?

StoryForge works with various designers and holds the required commercial licenses to produce and sell their 3D designs.

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, our products are not licensed, approved by, or officially affiliated with Wizards of the Coast or other publishers. Our designs are created with compatibility in mind and are not intended as official branded or licensed products.

Are the products safe for children?

Our products are not toys. They are intended for adult hobby use. Small parts may pose a choking hazard and are not suitable for young children.
